Spend The Night - (Atlantic)

Yet another example of a band trying so hard to distance themselves from previous superior efforts.

Seeming contemptuous of their Ramones-fueled past, The Donnas continue their drive to become Judas Priestesses on Spend The Night .

Don't blame the fact that their on a major label, friends - they headed down this path with their previous Turn 21 .

Spend The Night may wipe the floor of most of its kind out there (which isn't saying a whole lot, really), but perspective yields disappointment. Metal posturing abounds here and while well played, it just doesn't take the material anywhere memorable. Sure, you can headbang and do the devil-horn thing to All Messed Up and Not The One and have not too bad a time doing it - but there's little else at the end of that road.

Repeated listenings aren't enough to change the mediocrity of the material here - Spend The Night is rife with the clichés and sexual innuendoes (yeah, whatever) you'd expect from a band that goes out of their way to tell us that they're "bad girls". Too many bands have done this better.

Don't bother spending the night - bring enough for cab fare home.
